Omu, a prominent logistics and distribution company, faced operational challenges in its warehouse due to the absence of a suitable industry scanner app. Manual processes were leading to errors, delays, and inefficiencies in inventory management and order fulfilment. In response to this critical gap, we embarked on the design and development of the Omu Warehouse Management App.
The primary goal was to create a bespoke solution that would seamlessly integrate with the warehouse environment, offering advanced scanning capabilities and efficient management features. The aim was to enhance operational efficiency, reduce errors, and provide real-time visibility into inventory levels.
As the design team, our role was to conceptualize and implement a user-centric solution that addressed the specific needs of the logistics and distribution industry. Our approach involved:
Interviews and observations identified the need for a specialized industry scanner app.
Collaborated with stakeholders to define important features and improve item management efficiency.
User flows were refined through iterative testing and user feedback.
Provided training materials and assistance during the app rollout, addressing concerns for a smooth transition and promoting user adoption.
These wireframes offer a foundational structure illustrating the placement of the app description and associated elements on the screen.
Implemented advanced barcode and QR code scanning capabilities tailored to the logistics industry, ensuring quick and accurate identification of items.
Streamlined item creation, transfer, and removal processes to minimize errors and optimize workflow efficiency.
Designed a user-friendly checkout process, enabling staff to mark items for dispatch with ease.
While it has not yet been released, Conducted extensive usability testing sessions with warehouse staff to ensure the app's effectiveness in real-world scenarios. Gathered insights to make further adjustments for optimal user experience. As a result of this experience, I had a better understanding of the purpose of User Research as this allowed me to have a clear understanding of pain points.
